Brian Eno Urges Support to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The track features a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The team running the project have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure commented. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
