“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was entirely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply put up the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
