Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
