New Details Surface About the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the shocking deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Initial Report
A source indicates quoting a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the home. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
After gaining access to the house, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
The source also disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
