Just as the recent storm swept through the northwest the previous evening, City overwhelmed United away at the Etihad. It was a convincing three goal victory for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their leadership claims as they strengthened their position at the top of the table.

Back-to-Back Losses for United

This result represented consecutive Women's Super League defeats for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the league leaders with their title hopes in serious doubt.

United’s ability to manage domestic and continental soccer with a small team has been a widely debated topic since they secured entry to the European competition.
