Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Military Personnel to White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their memory.

White House Offer

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Support

Mourners assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Adjustments

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event led the government to suspend asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
