Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
